Year 2018 is just around the corner and we started to ponder about our goals for 2018.While discussing our inspiring ideas, we decided to see what the marketing agencies say about the new video trends are for year 2018. The good news is video marketing isn’t slowing down.
Exciting Trends of Video Marketing

A powerful technique used in experiential marketing, with video projection mapping, a video is projected onto a 3D surface. Think 2-dimensionally and use the side of a building. Think outside of the box, and projection mapping, also known as spatial augmented reality, and any 3D object or objects become the animated surface.
Here’s a taste of projection mapping by Coca Cola.
LIVE VIDEO STREAMING
With tools like Facebook Live and a range of streaming apps like BeLive and Zoom for beginners and OBS Studio and Wirecast for more seasoned videographers, live streaming is 100 percent accessible for every type of marketer. An excellent way to connect with customers and to express the more human side of a brand, this marketing platform is used for interviews, Q&A’s, behind-the-scenes video content and live events.
VR VIDEO MARKETING
Virtual reality is still largely unchartered territory. Still, some strides have been made by a few global brands like Heineken and Tesco. These companies have the deep marketing budgets to include VR video experiments within their strategy.
360 video has been catching on in 2017 and will likely be full blown in 2018. Another type of immersive technology, with 360 degree video content, the consumer can control their perspective when viewing. This can be with a VR headset or simply with a computer or smartphone screen’s browser control.
SHOPPABLE VIDEOS on Instagram Stories and Snap Ads
Brands posting ephemeral content on Snapchat and Instagram Stories can now expect to not just drive engagement but also sales.
Brands including Birchbox, GoPro, and SheaMoisture are testing a new shoppable video layer offered by video company MikMak that lets users purchase branded products on Instagram Stories and Snap Ads with a single URL.
Video and e-learning
here is no doubt that video is a powerful marketing tool, but its profits don’t end there. Videos not only capture action, but they are also a great resource when we want to transmit information in a clear and visual way.
Therefore, another trend of video marketing that I want to highlight is the use of video as a tool for training, either internally in companies or creating monetized content. For firms, this method is highly lucrative, as you can train more employees at a time with quality content. You can even integrate content training and marketing by offering a video course as a reward for users to leave their data.
Paid and sponsored videos
The video field offers many opportunities to launch paid advertising campaigns. Video Ads across platforms like Facebook ads are a great opportunity to multiply conversions, but you can also partner with YouTubers and other influencers to give your content marketing a boost. Remember that if you want to maximize returns on your investment, you will have to carefully measure the results and correct your course of action whenever necessary.
